The room filled with Diplomats sit quietly discussing among themselves when the next speaker is called up.  The group looks to the usual section that is assigned to the honored guests of the Coalition only to see their looks returned.  Then everyone notices a figure stand up from the main group of Coalition members and begin to approach the podium.  Reaching the front of the room and quickly hooking up his holo pad to the podium, a banner is displayed across the wall behind him.  The speaker gives a smirk as if pleased with himself on his entrance.

Good day esteemed members of Avance and all of her affiliated Factions.  You all know me well as one of your own.  My name is Rick Stromchaser of the Avance Coalition.  I am the Team Leader of the Valkan Infra Group working under Consul of Infrastructure Lister O Smeg.  I am also a member of House Valeo as the Second in Command and the Regent of the Xa Fel System.  I come forward with an offer and yet another way to serve my great government.

Rick waits for the chatter to die down

I have recently been approached by Echo Rantae, a member of Rogue Squadron and the leader of the T'doshok Alliance, and have been asked to be his second in command in the TA.  This group is dedicated to helping our species get started and thrive in this galaxy.  Trandoshans have a long and sometimes shady history, one we remember and embrace, but we also have a future.  This future consists of Trandoshans spread out over the entire galaxy and I ask the SRE to accept the TA and become a sponsoring faction of ours to recommend to new members or current members of the TA.

I thank you for your time and consideration and would request a private audience to discuss the details in full.

Rick unplugs his holo pad and returns to his seat to listen to the next speaker.

As the next diplomat rises to the podium, a silver 3PO droid approaches and speaks to Rick with it's vocoder set to a volume discreet enough not to disturb the proceedings:  "Consul Bodnari has instructed me to convey his warmest greetings, and to inform you that your request for a private audience is of course granted.  If you will follow me, I will show you to a conference room."  The droid wobbles around and begins walking toward a pair of tall narrow doors that lead into the private areas of the Consulate.

I would like to put up a recruiting poster in the T'doshok Alliance Forum to recruit new members of TA for Avance.  I do require access because I can't find it.  I would be very happy to use the same poster used on the Combine forums for recruiting.  A link I could use would be fine also.

Thank You for your consideration.

In a surprise move a group of mutilated Wookiees has gathered in a silent protest on the plaza in front of the Avance Coalitions Council of Diplomatic Affairs and Public Relations on Abregado-Rae, where earlier today a meeting between Mr. Bodnari, Consul of the Coalition, and Mr. Stormchaser, Representative of T'doshok Alliance, took place. No news was released to public about the details of the meeting.

All Wookiees are wearing red robes that are usually reserved for the Life Day celebrations. They do not attempt to crowd diplomats or disrupt the proceedings in any way, which is surprising for the usually short-tempered Wookiees and their well-known sentiments towards slavers.

Several holoprojectors have been setup to portray the holos of countless dead Wookiees, all of whom have died at the hands of Trandoshans Slavers, endorsed by Galactic Empire or of their own accord. No banners or formal protests have been announced.

When we approached a spokesman of the Wookiees on the plaza he explained that they are perfectly capable of differentiating between distinct Trandoshan clans and various other Trandoshan organizations. They are however are here to appeal to the Coalition Diplomats not to enter into any sorts of relations with a group of Trandoshans who while not actively persecuting Wookiees have nonetheless announced all Wookiees everywhere as their sworn enemies.

The latter is of course reference to the public notice, published by the Leader of T'doshok Alliance Echo Rantae earlier this year on their holosite.

Will the Coalition head to the warning of the Wookiees? Or will it endorse however indirectly racial hatred and persecution of even their own High Command members?

This is James Gardener, for the Avance News Network.

A small capital ship enters the citys landing pad, from it a tall Trandoshan dressed in formal garments emerges, escorted by another highly decorated Trandoshan.

Echo approaches the room of Diplomats, and proceeds to the podium.

Echo nods to Stormchaser.

Good evening Leaders and Diplomats of Avance Coalition and her Affiliates.  I am Overlord Echo Rantae, of the T'doshok Alliance, and to my side is the House Sissk Leader, Ashura Harma.  As House Hsskor Leader, and Second in Command of the Alliance, Rick Stormchaser has told you, we are seeking to pursue safe places for members of this great Alliance to work, play, and be active within their roles, wherever they so chose to serve,

Now, I would like to take a moment of your time to address the concerns of some members of Avance, if I may.  But let me start with a little history, unknown to some.

Echo shuffles through some paperwork.

Before we formally became the Alliance, it was I and a couple other Trandoshans, some of which were part of the New Republics Operation that free'd the Kashyyyk system from The Twelve Colonies tyrannical oppression.  We were more focused on chasing them from our home, Trandosha, but while we had them on the run, we pushed them entirely out of the system.  In doing so, Wookiees were then safe again from oppresssion as well, first from the Galactic Empire, then with the Twelve Colonies, which the system is now under the control of the New Republic.  The NR does not imprison Wookiees, there are even wookiees in their ranks.

The crowd begins to whisper, silently, unaware of the war that took place in Kashyyyk.

As time went on, Doshans began to return to their homes which were pillaged and destroyed.  It was at this time that the Alliance was formed to help rebuild our once prosperous race, which yes, was known for its slaving as a means of income.

At the time of forming, we did push our old roots of Slaving, and in doing so, hoped to begin increasing our credit flow to rebuild our war torn planet.

When the membership of the Alliance began to grow, the clans decided to form the Houses of the Alliance, as not all Doshans had the same view of the galaxy.  While some are traditional, and see slaving as the only way to please our god, The Scorekeeper, another House, House Sissk, saw potential in beginning peace talks with Wookiees.  Our focus went from Slaving, to helping others of our kind better themselves, succeed, and become notable members of society.

With this in mind, our members are not required to seek out Wookiees as our "sworn enemies."  As I have seen, not all Doshans feel this way.  And with that being said, I would like to retract the statement and appologize to any Wookiees offended by those "words," in which Xanyarr Chyakk was referring to.

Echo pauses momentarily.

Just because our history is that of vicious slavers, that does not mean it is our future.  Take Rick for example, a great leader, he is loyal to Avance, as well as a key leader of TA.  You all trust him, and he is a Doshan.  Why would you fear a group of Doshans lead by him?  The system, under control of the New Republic does not allow slavery, and I myself being a Galactic Alliance member, will not do anything to jeopardize our friendship with the New Republic.

Echo peers into the crowd.

Why would I go into such information with you, the glorious Avance Coalition?  The answer is simple.I am seeking safety for members of this Alliance, so that they may become successful in their own endeavours.  We have affiliations with factions in place for members of the Alliance if they chose, but some would like to be part of a bigger picture, a government.  With the dedication and extensive knowledge Ashura and Rick have shown, it is apparent that Avance is a safe place for our members, and Avance would look past our heritage, and welcome new Doshans of the galaxy into their ranks, as an equal, not an opponent.

I thank you for your time, and hope you'll consider the well-being of our people.

Echo bows to the Avance members, before signaling to Ashura, and taking a seat.

Ashura Harma moves ankwardly to the front. He's wearing his usual cape and human clothes, and looks feverish, starting immediately to speak.

"Greetings fellow Avancians. I come before you today, not as old Valeo Exarch, nor as Xanyarr ex employee", and then he turns to grin at the wookiees, "but as Leader of House Sissk, of the T'Doshok Alliance.

The Alliance is a powerful tool for the trandoshans, for the fullfillment of the desstiny of our race.
We, at the House Sissk, believe that this desstiny is to be a part of a greater whole, and to live in harmony with this greater whole. Like if ssome kind of force was binding all ssentients in this universse, and the evil we do on another was affecting us too. But that's not the point today.

The point is, ssome Wookiees are alarmed at sseeing the trandoshans united again. I could ssay : don't fear ! But I will rather ssay : you are right ! Unified, the might of our race is one of the biggesst in this universse. And it is true, ssome of our members sstill want to live by the old code, abiding to the old way, and the old way ssays that Wookiees are animals, to be freely hunted.

But I will alsso ssay"
, and Ashura extends his arm, like to reach out at the wookiees, "give peace a chance ! Yes, the way is difficult, yes the way is long. But with the help of all other people of goodwill in this galaxy, the New Code shall prevail, and for the New Code to prevail, I need the T'Doshok Alliance."

Ashura takes a moment to clear his throat.

"I would like to introduce today a new concept, the concept of Mischief.
As our Leader told you, he wants to apologize for the words of ssworn ennemies"
, Ashura pauses, for bigger effect,  "I think it's a misstake ! He cannot ! He cannot, by a ssimple apology, erase centuries of rivalries between the Trandoshans and the Wookiees, a feud so long that it's embedded in our cultures, if not in our genes.
But rivalry doesn't equate to war, sslavery, or genocide. Hence the concept of Mischief, that I propose to Trandoshans and Wookiees alike, to replace the violence with the competition. Competition between our two races, be it in ssports, in academics, in economics, whatever ... Mischief, because the competition will probably not be fair play, will certainly not follow rules or laws, that ssometimes violence could erupt; but with the hope that one day, as Mischief replaced violence, Mutual Resspect will replace mischief.

That's why, fellow Avancians, I'm here before you today, to make ssure that you undersstand what is at sstake, and that without the help from the mosst advanced civilization in this galaxy, the New Way shall not prevail.
Thank you."

And exhausted by his long speech, Ashura stumbles back to his chair.

Inspired by the speeches before him Rick walks up to the podium.

I would like to add a few things as well.  The Overlord and the Leader of Two Houses are here now, not because they want the respect of Avance as much as the respect of the Wookiees.  Although you have not heard an apology today it is because we are not slavers.  Our ancestors owe you that apology.  We have gathered here in this symbolic manner to offer respect to the Wookiees.  We do not wish to continue this feud.  In fact we have held peace talks, the leaders were not able to come to any agreements but the attempt has been made.

I am the Leader of House Hsskor and we believe in Honor in Unity.  Not just the unity of T'doshok but of all races and lines of work.  My members follow a similar code such as myself, we earn jagganath points from the Scorekeeper through battle and through the hunt.  In battle we serve and protect and we battle against other soldiers, never the weak and helpless.  When we hunt it is for the challenge and danger, the prey must be able to defend itself, we don't hunt easy prey for sport.

We live by a code of honor and in our eyes slavery is not honorable.  We do not practice that anymore.  Our members were forced from their homes for many years living among other cultures and we got to know and understand many species.  We are now united again but we take with us the lessons learned from this new Era.

Rick walks over to stand next to Echo and Ashura smiling as he is proud to be a part of this attempt at peace.

((OOC: Good responses all around! Minor God-moding and presumptions in regards to knowledge of history not withstanding!  Roll Eyes
Though I do wish you would read a bit more carefully before responding, as my character was nowhere in my post, similarly to Gid being absent in his post...
For my response I'm going to assume that your responses happened in a holo press conference, as you can't really rebuke or answer to something that happened on news channel in the diplomatic chambers.
Also my response apparently didn't go through yesterday so I had to rewrite it from the very beginning, again...))

ANN EXTRA #2

Greetings fellow sentient beings!

This is James Gardener reporting for Avance News Network on recent development in the diplomatic scene. As you might remember from our previous coverage of the events T'doshok Alliance (TA) approached Avance Coalition (AC) with the appeal for Avance and the Soyak Rainer Enterprises (SRE) to sponsor the Trandoshan Society.

Upon hearing of this appeal a group of Wookiees on Abregado-Rae started a silent protest to warn the Coalition against proceeding forward with such a treaty. A Wookiee spokesman pointed out that the TA considers Wookiees their "sworn enemies" and that would include countless Citizens of Avance Coalition as well as several members of the SRE Command Group.

In response to our coverage of the Wookiee protest the leadership of the T'doshok Alliance called a press conference during which Overlord Echo Rantae offered his apology to those offended by the "sworn enemies" statement and indicated that he wished to retract that statement. He also stated that while Trandoshans have a history as slavers it does not mean that their future is that of the slavers.

Following the Overlord Rantaes speech clan leaders Harma and Stormchaser offered short statements.

Mr. Harma, leader of Clan Sissk, appealed to audience that this unification of Doshans has peaceful intentions. He also stated that simple apology cannot erase "centuries of rivalries between the Trandoshans and the Wookiees" and offered to continue those feuds in a unique concept of mischief - instead of war, slavery and genocide to compete in sports, academia and economical endeavors.

Mr. Stormchaser, leader of Clan Hsskor, added that they cannot apologize for the deeds of their ancestors, but they have called the conference to offer a token of respect to the Wookiees. The new generation of Doshans follows a new code of honor, but it has learned the lesson of times past, concluded Mr. Stormchaser.

Our studio was quite surprised by that response and we hope that some of the fears of our audience have been allayed.

When we approached the spokesman of the Wookiee protest for his thoughts on the Trandoshan holo press conference, he said that only time will tell whether or not the new generation of Trandoshans has learned its lessons. The absence of the Blackscales clan representative during that conference was duly noted, he added as the Wookiees have been gathering their belongings and boarding a shuttle bus. "Our business here is concluded. It was never our intention to interrupt the proceedings of this august chamber or cause mayhem. And we would like to thank the ANN for bringing our concerns to larger audience!", said the Wookiee spokesman before disappearing in the shuttle bus himself.

We will watch the continuing development of this and other diplomatic matters here on Abregado-Rae and report them to you.

This is James Gardener for the Avance News Network.

((OOC: As far as I'm concerned this matter is over, but if you want another followup we could do an interview or something of the sort. I would also appreciate an announcement of some sort once you conclude your negotiations.))
